ABOUT US

Who are we?
Studying Law or not, the Reading University Law Society is a must-join institution.

We are open to anyone who wants to come to the biggest socials on campus, those who have an interest in law, those who study law and those who have seen the array of experience on offer and whom are keen to grab the opportunity with both hands.

What can you expect from us? Friendly faces, huge socials, trips to places you’ve never been before and a helping hand in building your future career.

Throughout the year, the Law society offers a wide range of socials, which are attended in vast numbers. It is the perfect way to meet new people, make some great friends and also let off any steam you may have from your studies. Some of the socials include themed events, such as Cops & Robbers or white t-shirt socials, with other events like quizzes and bar-crawls also on offer.

Not only do we have a wide variety of socials throughout the year, we also have trips organised by our committee to various locations. One notable trip is the annual trip to Ascot, for a day of horse racing, which every year is enjoyed by many - win or lose. Another great trip we have to offer, is the annual trip abroad, with last year’s trip being to Prague. The trip abroad is a perfect way to escape University and also to visit a new place, full of culture. Stay up to date for our trip abroad announcement - it's coming soon!!

A year with the Law Society is never complete without the annual Law Ball. This event allows for members to sort out their best attire, enjoy a sophisticated meal and then party until the early hours of the morning. Attended by both students and academics, the Law Ball is a brilliant event that should not be missed.

The Law society does not stop at social events or trips, we also offer a variety of other opportunities which are truly unique to this society. For example, along with sponsors, the Law Society organises various events across the year that are related to careers and pro-bono.
